We believe that volunteer youth work has the power to shape a better, more engaged society. Co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, TAC is designed to elevate the quality of youth volunteering by providing structured learning opportunities and empowering young people through Active Global Citizenship.

About TAC

Designed to empower youth workers across Europe and rooted in the belief that local action fuels global impact, TAC connects and equips volunteer youth trainers with the tools, pathways, and networks they need to thrive—locally, regionally, and at European level.

Running from February 2024 to January 2026, TAC builds a sustainable framework for training youth workers through a collaborative effort, involving six experienced partner organisations from across Europe. Together, we are creating a solid foundation for youth work focused on active citizenship, intercultural learning, and peer-to-peer education.

Active Global Citizenship and Learning Paths for Volunteer Youth Workers

Active Global Citizenship shouldn’t be an afterthought—it should be a natural part of a volunteer’s journey. This comprehensive manual combines innovative Active Citizenship learning methods with a structured learning path designed specifically for volunteer youth workers.

Our goal is to help youth workers recognize volunteering itself as a profound and conscious form of active participation. By understanding volunteering as an Active Citizenship experience, youth workers can better guide volunteers to see exactly how their daily actions link back to their personal motivation for volunteering.

What this manual contains:

  • Frameworks and definitions on active global citizenship to ground your organization’s approach.
  • Models and examples of how to effectively guide and support the learning path of youth workers.
  • Activities to raise awareness about active citizenship among young people and youth workers alike.
  • Activities and workshops to facilitate the learning path of youth workers and young people, helping them recognize their impact in society.

We believe in empowering youth workers with the tools they need to turn everyday volunteering into a transformative journey of personal growth and global impact.

What we aim to achieve

At the heart of TAC is a commitment to boost the quality, visibility, and recognition of volunteer-based youth work. Our goals include:

  • Empowering youth workers with structured training paths that foster active citizenship and personal growth.
  • Creating sustainable training networks that nurture skills, peer learning, and long-term engagement.
  • Reviving European cooperation by rebuilding a strong, diverse, and interconnected community of trainers.

We believe in nurturing youth workers as changemakers—active citizens who inspire others to contribute to a more inclusive, just, and peaceful Europe.

Key Activities & Outputs

  1. A manual for developing the learning path of trainers and youth workers, focusing on Active Global Citizenship. A valuable resource, that includes reflection methods from and for trainers, to structure their learning paths. 
  2. Guidelines for setting a sustainable and replicable National Pool of Trainers. Learn how to create your own Pool of Trainers and make it grow from the local to the European level.

This practical and inspirational manual maps out a learning journey for youth workers. It blends reflection tools, training methodologies, and personal development strategies to support trainers as they grow into multipliers of Active Global Citizenship in their communities.
