In the EFIL office in Brussels we welcome 2 new staff members to the office, Fabrice and Mary-Celine.
My name is Fabrice GONET and since the 12th of February I am the interim Secretary General of EFIL. I had the pleasure of to serve AFS Programmes Interculturels asbl as a National Director between 2010 and 2013.
I am joining EFIL at a moment in Europe when more than ever it is time to advocate for and to showcase that AFS is a reliable educational partner to schools and public authorities in the field of education .
As a main NGO in the sector of global citizenship education and intercultural learning, our expertise in pupil mobility and our long history as a volunteer-driven international organisation have the potential to inspire both policy makers, schoolheads and teachers in the years to come.
The EFIL Secretariat will continue to be from Brussels the beating heart of the AFS network in Europe, offering further services to our members and launching funded initiatives to make our mission more known and visible.
Next upcoming big event, this time for all AFS volunteers, is the well-known Volunteer Sommer Summit in Austria (14-19th July, 2019). The topic of this year’s edition is: #AFSEffect: Volunteering for Impact
Registrations are possible until the 22th of April
My name is Marie-Céline, and I am happy to introduce myself as EFIL’s Advocacy and School Relations Coordinator. I will be working with EFIL until October, replacing Elisa during her maternity leave.
Although I am new to AFS, I have been a volunteer in several like-minded organisations, including the Scouts, ESN and CISV, for many years and counting.
When it comes to my previous full-time occupations, I have worked for a European trade association for two years, I have done a one-year European Voluntary Service at CISV Norway and I have been a trainee at the European Parliament.
I was born and raised in Belgium, and I have had the chance to live abroad twice so far; as an Erasmus student in Marburg (Germany) and as an EVS volunteer in Oslo (Norway).
I like sports (especially gymnastics, stunts and martial arts), traveling, getting to know more about other cultures and learning languages.
I am looking forward to meeting many of you at upcoming EFIL/AFS events 🙂
