Hello everyone,
I’m Valentina, the latest EFIL intern!
I come from Italy and have had a pretty standard AFS experience: exchange in a tiny tiny village in the north of the USA, volunteering for AFS Italy from the moment I came back, participation in several national and international trainings and activities, an internship for the Communication Office of AFS Italy in Milan, numerous VSS participations. It was only a matter of time until I would end up here in Brussels and I couldn’t be more excited for this new adventure.
My main task at the EFIL office will be collaborating to the preparation of the Volunteer Summer Summit 2017 taking place in Iceland in August. The VSS has been one of the staple of my AFS life, even when I had to take a break from active volunteering, I always blocked a week during the summer to travel Europe to wherever the VSS was hosted, meet old friends, make new ones, have fun and discuss how to make a positive change in the world. After taking part in 7 editions I can say that the VSS is my happy place! This year I’ll do my best to contribute to making it every other participant’s too.
I hope to see many new and old faces in Iceland!
