An enthusiastic and competent team of trainers met 2-4 August 2018 in Brussels to plan the upcoming EFIL Training for Trainers taking place in Prague, Czech Republic, in October 2018.

The 2018 edition of the annual Training for Trainers, next to general trainer competences, will focus on two aspects:

  • the specific skills needed to be facilitators of online learning;
  • the training contents focused on applying intercultural competences in everyday life.

Consequently, the training will for the first time include an intense online preparatory phase. Between mid September and mid October participants will become the first users of the newly developing DICE course (Developing Intercultural Competence through E-learning).

The preparatory team of the TfT consists this year of: Fareeda Atwan (AFS Egypt), Andras Zalan Nagy (AFS Hungary), Jeroen Vandenbempt (AFS Belgium Flanders) and Anastasia Baskina (external trainer), assisted by Izabela Jurczik-Arnold from the EFIL office.

During the Brussels preparatory meeting the team planned the detailed agenda of the training, including its preparatory phase. They also discussed the synergy of the training with the national volunteer training Megavikend organised by AFS Czech Republic: the TfT participants will have a chance to conduct their real-life sessions with the participants of the Czech event.

The Training for Trainers, as well as the DICE course development project, are a part of EFIL’s annual work plan “Intercultural Learning in the 21stcentury: impact and approaches to unite polarised societies”, supported by the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe.
