At its first Board meeting of the year (see elsewhere in this edition of EFILife), the EFIL Board agreed on the agenda of the General Assembly and had in-depth discussions on some of the sessions.

The balanced programme of the event includes informative sessions reflecting on EFIL’s activities and achievements of the past two years, and on the topics the Board specifically focused on in 2015 and 2016. EFIL’s Biennial Report 2015-2016, covering all of EFIL’s activities in the various result areas (advocacy, training, projects and programmes, partner development, communication, governance), will be ready for distribution at the General Assembly in Prague.

At the GA, we will also look ahead at the next cycle of two years and present the Business Plan and budgets for 2017-2018. Ample time has been set aside for interactive sessions with the Member Organisations’ delegates, discussing carefully selected topics of interest as taken from input received through the EFIL survey of 2016 completed and returned by all EFIL’s Members, recommendations by EFIL’s Training and Intercultural Learning Advisory Body (TICLAB), and communication with the Members.

Incoming registrations for the EFIL General Assembly show that we’re heading for a record attendance, including delegates of all of EFIL’s Member Organisations. We’re happy to confirm that the President and CEO of AFS Intercultural Programs, Daniel Obst, will be joining us in Prague, as well as EFIL’s Honorary President, Roberto Ruffino.

Board elections will take place during the statutory session of the General Assembly. The call for nominations will be issued the latest by 26 February 2017, with 26 March 2017 as the latest date for submitting the nominations.

The venue for the EFIL General Assembly is hotel Vienna House Diplomat Prague (https://www.viennahouse.com/en/diplomat-prague/the-hotel/overview.html), well located and easy to reach from the airport and by public transport.EFIL wants to thank AFS Czech Republic for the excellent cooperation and the much appreciated support with the logistics.
