In November 2016 EFIL became member of the European Economic and Social Committee Liaison Group. The European Economic and Social Committee  (EESC) is a consultative body of the European Union and it represents a wide range of national civil society organisations, from employers’ organisations to trade unions, and from consumer groups to social, educational, development and environmental organisations, just to name a few.

In 2004, the Committee decided to set up a Liaison Group with European civil society organisations and networks in order to be more open, representative and effective, playing to the full its role as a bridge and major channel of communication between the EU and these European organisations.

Within the Liaison group there are representatives of European organisations from different sectors, namely Education & Training, Youth, Volunteering, Family Life and Children Rights, Consumer Policy and many others.

EFIL has been accepted as the substitute member in the sector of Youth.
