EFIL is a non formal education provider, and so are its members, AFS organisations in Europe. We believe in the transformative power of experiential learning.
We advocate for the recognition by the formal education system, of the competences developed through non formal education.
In particular we follow
- the implementation of the Council recommendation on the validation of non-formal and informal learning
- the revision of key competences for lifelong learning.
- the revision of Europass and Youthpass as documents to collect evidence of all learning. Open Badges are a key tool to be integrated.
We advocate for the recognition by society at large and policy makers, of the value of youth organisations and youth work, as providers of non-formal education, empowering young people to be active citizens. Therefore we support the We Are Youth Work campaign of the European Youth Forum.
