EFIL is a European NGO, and strongly advocates for EU funding to be dedicated to the youth and school education sector, ensuring cross-sectorial cooperation.

In 2008 EFIL has considerably contributed to shaping the EU funding programme in the field of school education by implementing the Pilot project ‘Comenius Individual Pupil Mobility’ funded by the European Commission. As a result of the successful pilot, individual pupil mobility was then included in the Lifelong Learning Programme, and now under Erasmus+.

EFIL is member of the Erasmus+ Civil Society Coalition formed by the members of the European Youth Forum and Lifelong Learning Platform together. Within this coalition we advocate for:

  • more sustainable funding to ENGOs
  • a strong European dimension of the funding programme: ENGOs need to be able to apply at centralized level for all key actions and there should be more coordination among Erasmus+ National agencies

Since 2016 EFIL and EEE-YFU advocate for a stronger focus of Earsmus+ on the school education sector, ensuring cross-sectorial cooperation, especially with the NGOs expert in pupil mobility and non formal education.
