ST Valeria

Valeria

Ciao! I’m Valeria, and I’m from Rome, nice to meet you! I became an AFS volunteer in Italy shortly after my own year program in China, as I wanted to give back to my community. In my day-to-day life I love going to concerts, arts & crafts, and cooking all types of food! I’m joining as a Support Team member in this year’s VSS in Reims, so be sure to come say hi!

ST Noemi 3

Noémi

I am Noémi from Hungary, Budapest. I started volunteering with AFS in 2011, I have been a trainer for 4 years now, I was several times a guardian angel and coordinator, S.O.S host family. I really like the orientations and the selections. I participated in the support team at the AFS Academy and at the Global Conference organised in Hungary. I speak French on a professional level that’s why I am happy to be a part of the support team this year in France. I like to be very active. I am a caring, resilient and good problem-solving person.

ST Michal

Michal

Hi, I’m Michal and I’ve been volunteering with AFS Poland since 2016, after returning from my exchange year in Italy. In my spare time, I enjoy London’s West End musicals and playing padel and frontennis with my mates. I have already had the pleasure of attending the VSS on Utoya Island in Norway and I am looking forward to helping make this VSS special, especially for those who will have the opportunity to experience it for the very first time. I send you a big, big hug from (surprisingly) sunny London and I’ll see you soon! xx

St Malena

Malena

Hi everyone! My name is Malena. I’m a 21 years-old law student and I’m an AFS volunteer from Spain. I went on exchange with the organisation to Finland. Since them I’ve been working with AFS mainly as a contact person and recently as a trainner. Moreover, thanks to EFIL, I had the opportunity to attent the Youth Daus of the Eu Parlement. I’m looking forward to share with all of you this great days in France.

ST Lazar

Lazar

Hi everyone! My name is Lazar and I’m a third-year, 22-year-old economics student from Belgrade, Serbia!📈 This will be my first VSS ever, so naturally, I’m really excited to have fun doing it and to meet you all! My AFS journey started in 2017 when I first hosted a guy from Czech Republic for two weeks only, as his host family was on a vacation. After that amazing experience, I decided to do an exchange year in Germany in 2018/2019 and ever since I came back, I have been a volunteer for AFS Interkultura Serbia here, in my Belgrade local chapter. As for my hobbies, I really do love doing many different things, that is, when I have free time. I love skiing (and everything that has to do with snow❄️) and go to the mountains anytime I can ⛰️⛷️. And when I’m at the topic of mountains, I also love hiking🥾🌲, which is a great way to practice another hobby of mine – photography! I love cooking as well – any recipe that I can get my hands on 🥧. I also want to take up pottery (one day after my never-ending exams finish), so I’m counting on my AFS friend Lola to find a place for me in her class one day 🤓.

ST Karin

Karin

Hello beautiful people, my name is Karin, I’m from Slovakia and I’m part of the support team for this year’s VSS in France. I’ve been part of AFS since 2017 and since June 2023 I’ve become PEACE ESC volunteer for EFIL. I studied psychology and I just love wondering around the world, meeting new people and listening to their stories. If you need someone to talk to or just have random conversation at 3AM you can count me in 😁.

Hi everyone, my name’s Bianca and I’m from Austria. I did my exchange in Russia in 2015/16 and have been an AFS volunteer ever since. Currently, I’m an ESC volunteer at the EFIL office but by the time the VSS starts my programme will be over and I’ll hopefully be able to tell you what I’ll do next then 🦄. I was a participant at the VSS18 in Norway and joined the last day of the VSS22 in Belgium with the other EFIL staff members, so this will be my 2.5 (?) VSS 😊.
