Membership capacity building - European Federation for Intercultural Learning

As an umbrella organisation of 26 AFS organisations in Europe and the Mediterranean, EFIL supports and empowers Member Organisations to bolster their advocacy efforts at national level, to diversify and improve their intercultural learning offer and to develop and diversify their volunteer networks.

Exchanging best practices

It is the quality presence of Member Organisations in the implementation of activities and programmes, their contribution of resources, trainers, ideas and practices that is and remains the hallmark of EFIL. AFS has developed a unique know-how in organising and supporting the development of young people and the intercultural learning of all those that participate in our exchange programmes. The interdependent nature of our activities makes the sharing of practices and know-how one of the most important investments that our organisations can make to address quality and continuity in all aspects of our work.

Capacity building

EFIL General Assembly

The General Assembly has the supreme authority to work towards the attainment of the aims set out in the EFIL statutes and has the exclusive competence to adopt the budget, approve the balance sheets, elect or dismiss Board members and amend the statutes.

Governance and Leadership Seminar

Seminar organised by EFIL with the support of AFS Intercultural Programs for new Board Members of our member organisations to share and discuss strategies and best practices.

Heads of Office meetings

The HOO meetings aim at building a sense of unity and common identity within the network of European partners, and create a platform to discuss on developments in Europe, EFIL and the AFS global network.

Programme Directors meetings

Meeting organised by EFIL for Member Organisations’ Programme Directors, focused on the design and management of mobility programmes for young people (15-18 yo).

Volunteer Development Coordinators meetings

Meeting organised by EFIL for Member Organisations’ Volunteer Development staff (VDC), focused on the management, engagement, and training of the AFS volunteers and youth workers.

Support Staff meetings

Meeting organised by EFIL for Member Organisations’ Support Staff, focused on the logistical and general support of young people on mobility programmes.
