In each edition of EFILife, we dedicate some space to partner news, including personnel changes as well as relevant events that have taken place over the past months.

From AFS Iceland comes the news that a new Partner Director has been appointed.

Ms. Sólveig Ása Tryggvadóttir is known to the network as she has been a staff member for the last 7 years. Sólveig cut her teeth in Hosting and since the fall of 2015 she has been the Programme Director. Sólveig is also an AFS returnee and was an active volunteer on local and national level.

Sólveigrecently finished a postgraduate diploma in Global Relation from the University of Iceland as well as having a lot of hands on experience both from living abroad and participating in different educational programmes.

 

AFS Hungary has recruited a new Partner Director. Ms. Ágnes Vajda Ági brings to her position 20 years of experience managing and overseeing a wide range of binational and multilateral scholarship and exchange programmes, and other international education projects.

Prior to joining AFS Hungary, she held various senior positions at the Institute of International Education (IIE) and the Fulbright Hungarian-American Commission for Educational Exchange. Most recently, she served as Regional Director of IIE’s European Office based in Budapest. In that capacity, she worked on behalf of various governments, corporate, private foundation and university sponsors, including the U. S. Department of State, the GE Foundation, the Educational Testing Service, the College Board, and New York University Abu Dhabi.

She holds two Master’s degrees, one in English and Russian from the University of Debrecen and another one in Educational Management from Corvinus University in Budapest.

AFS Sweden informs that Eva Hörwing, current Partner Director of AFS Sweden, is leaving AFS as of September 15. The Board appreciates her dedication and work she has put in to build up a team and the organisation in Sweden.

Viveka Wikström has been appointed as the Interim Partner Director from September 1. Viveka has been the Support Manager for the last 5 years; she was an exchange student in 1975 and is familiar with AFS values and strategies. Viveka has a background in business and non-profit organisations. Eva and Viveka will work on a smooth handover from the beginning of September.
