Dear AFSers around the world!
My name is Pina and I come from a town near Naples, in the sunny South of Italy. In the next months I will be working on the ECTP (European Citizenship Trimester Programme) as an intern at the EFIL office in Brussels and I’m very excited about it!
Since I was a child I have always been fascinated by discovering new places and meeting new people, thanks to my parents with whom I always travelled a lot. But at some point I decided to start travelling alone and I went on an AFS exchange to Hungary in 2009. This has been one of the best experiences in my life and once back I started volunteering for AFS in my local chapter in Italy.
Last year I realized that I had been at the same place for too long, that’s the reason why I decided to leave on an Erasmus exchange. I spent an amazing year in the lively city of Liège, in the French part of Belgium. After this experience, I’m very happy now to have the opportunity to start working in an international environment with enthusiastic people to gain work competences. Even though my internship will only last 4 months, I really want to learn as much as possible and take all the best from this new adventure. EFIL offers a lot of opportunities, also to attend many seminars and events. Moreover Brussels is an amazing city to live in where always something is going on!
After my internship I will be back in Italy to finish my studies in international law at university and I’m sure that this experience will help me a lot in the future.
I’m looking forward to my time with EFIL!
