From 2 to 4 March, the preparatory team from the seminar “Islam in Europe” met to discuss the objectives and agenda of the seminar. Thanks to the support of the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe, this seminar is included in EFIL’s yearly Work Plan “Building Peaceful Societies”.

In this seminar, we aim at increasing the impact of AFS on fighting islamophobia and promoting interfaith dialogue in European communities. Together, participants will evaluate the impact and role of AFS in interfaith dialogue in programme-related activities, local chapter work and volunteer engagement. In the prep team meeting, the agenda of the seminar was set, and we promise diverse and engaging workshops on the topic, including prejudices awareness, the background of islamophobia, field visits and action planning.

The trainers’ team is made up of Alexandra Singpiel (Germany), Stasa Stojkov (Serbia/Egypt) and Hamdican Gulgen (Turkey) who all have a broad experience in the topic. The team is supported by Izabela Jurczik-Arnold and Ingvild Grini from EFIL.

Islam in Europe will take place in Belgium from 5 to 11 April. We are looking forward to discuss the topic with engaged volunteers from various AFS partners in Europe.
