In November Inga Menke (EFIL staff in charge of new partner development) traveled to Zagreb, Croatia, to meet with the staff and volunteers of the newly established office of AFS Croatia and AFS Slovenia.

In the past year EFIL launched a project to support the development of the young partner organisations in Croatia and Slovenia, and was able to secure funding through the EFIL membership to start up a combined office with a staff member, serving both the AFS partner organisations in Croatia and Slovenia. The office started its operations in September 2016.  EFIL is following up closely the developments in both organisations. In addition, several partners of the EFIL network have offered not only financial support, but also training support for the staff and volunteers working with the new office.

This was the first visit of an EFIL staff member to follow up on the developments. The meeting took place in the newly rented office space in Zagreb. The focus of the meeting was to see how the new office functions and what the tasks of each person or group in the organisation are. In addition, current challenges were discussed with the key office people, key volunteers and the board of AFS Croatia. The next visit will take place in the first months of 2017.
