Intercultural Dialogue Day – It’s June, high time for action!

Hello again from the very diverse IDD Team! As we had informed you last time, we are really working hard on the preparation of this year’s Intercultural Dialogue Day which will take place on the last Thursday of September. And I know many of you must be thinking that there’s still plenty of time, but trust me, time flies when you are in good company, and with us you definitely will be! So get ready and get well prepared for this amazing event!

For those of you who are active on social networks, there is a Facebook page for Intercultural Dialogue Day where you can read different contents regarding diversity education, get some useful information and also share with us and the rest of the AFS world your thoughts, ideas and opinions regarding this year’s topic which is “diversity education”. Maybe together we can come to some useful conclusions? Maybe our conclusions can make a change? Are we all very different, or are we basically all the same?

As for those who might not be fans of the social media, it doesn’t mean you can’t be a part of this amazing event. The prep-team has prepared some special materials that should help you in promoting and organising this year’s IDD event in your country or chapter, and these materials will be arriving any day now in your national offices. All the materials are designed and created in a way that allows you to use your imagination! Be creative, and use them in the best possible way!

Meanwhile, EFIL’s Volunteer Summer Summit (VSS) is comin

g closer and we are really looking forward to seeing you all there. Some amazing things will be happening at the VSS, and since the topic of the event is Inter-faith Dialogue, there is a clear connection with diversity education. What do you think? Is religion something that makes us different? Or is it maybe something that connects people? And in what way? We would really like to hear your thoughts so don’t hesitate to share them, and be heard. A part from Facebook, you can use Twitter (#AFS_IDD), Instagram (#InterculturalDialogueDay), and Google+ (Intercultural Dialogue Day) For those of you who are bigger fans of video communication, there is also a YouTube channel where you can already find a small introduction video which might give you a better idea of what IDD really is.

As you can see, a lot has been going since the previous edition of EFILife, but now it’s time for all of you to join us and help us make this year’s Intercultural Dialogue Day the best so far!
