In November EFIL was invited to give a workshop at the Symposium on Language and Culture at the Groningen University in the Netherlands. Inga Menke (EFIL staff) together with Hanneke Boode, an AFS volunteer living in Groningen and working at the Groningen University, represented EFIL and led the workshop on “What we can learn from AFS: Lessons for exchange”. The workshop focused on the need for Intercultural Learning in exchanges. Research efforts done by AFS/EFIL and outcomes were shared. In addition, insight was given into how AFS supports its exchanges. Towards the end of the session participants were able to experience a non-formal learning activity.
