EFIL, the European Federation for Intercultural Learning, is the umbrella organisation of 23 AFS Organisations in Europe, and was established in Brussels in 1971.
The Members of EFIL are voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organisations providing intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. EFIL Member Organisations participate in a network of partner organisations with operations covering 56 countries worldwide.
The Federation aims at being a key-player in European exchange projects and programmes. EFIL promotes synergies and opportunities for its Member Organisations in the field of intercultural learning and global education. Its main activities focus on lobbying, fundraising, development of programmes and projects, training and fostering the sharing of know-how and practices to better equip the members to grow with quality, as well as increasing European programme activities by developing new partners. Furthermore, EFIL is involved in strategic alliances and relationships that are of interest to the core business of AFS, and plays a leading role in European debates and programmes that affect the AFS core business.
We are currently looking for a new EVS (European Voluntary Service) volunteer for the Secretariat as of September 2008 for a period of 12 months.
