EFIL Member Organisations use the Federation to organise international exchanges, to discuss their mutual interests and to develop activities that involve new groups in intercultural learning and global education.

The Members of EFIL aim to contribute to the education of young people, to promote peace by stimulating awareness of mankind’s common humanity, and by encouraging a wider understanding of the diverse social, cultural and physical environments which make up world society. They offer a variety of opportunities to foster intercultural competencies for people of all ages. Their programmes are built around the educational objectives of AFS and, each year, more than 10,000 students, volunteers, teachers and other participants take part in international exchange programmes within Europe, or between Europe and other parts of the world.
