Networking and lobbying

EFIL wants to further build up its leading role in Europe within the framework of the new Youth in Action Programme 2007-2013 and the Integrated Action Programme for Lifelong Learning 2007-2013, held in high esteem for the relevance of its mission, the extent of the AFS volunteer network in Europe and the impact of its initiatives.

EFIL wants to profile itself as a respected, professional organisation with much wanted expertise. EFIL will play a pro-active role, actively participating in European debates affecting intercultural learning, global education, youth mobility, volunteerism, etc. EFIL will monitor policy developments on the European level, keep special attention and react to legal regulations on the European level that affect individual exchange programmes. EFIL will ensure decision makers understand the role of the voluntary sector in youth exchanges and youth issues.

In the years covered by the Strategic Directions 2007-2012, EFIL wants to further develop relationships with like-minded organisations and stakeholders in the field, and create partnerships and strategic alliances in order to promote issues of common interest and concern towards European institution, including lobbying efforts regarding visa issues, recognition of study periods abroad, large projects, etc. Cooperation with like-minded organisations shall be pragmatic and will not concern EFIL’s and AFS’s core activities and strengths such as programme practices, specific training on programme related topics, technical devices used in the running of programmes, etc.
