The Federation promotes synergies and opportunities for its Member Organisations in the field of intercultural learning and global education. Its main activities focus on networking and lobbying, training and sharing, developing new partners in Europe and implementing and/or coordinating pan-European projects and programmes for the benefit of AFS.

In its role as a global education network, EFIL supports its Members in establishing programmes that bridge the gap between the training provided by most educational systems and the intercultural skills and global perspectives needed to foster a harmonious world. Furthermore, EFIL co-ordinates several exchange activities on behalf of its Members or in conjunction with international organisations.
